A two month adventure in the middle of South American forests and mountains was life changing for our founder Heikki: he discovered a rare treasure – alpaca wool.

As the temperature in the mountains was changing from blazing hot to freezing cold, the alpaca wool knits we got from the locals kept him comfortable, enfolding him in warmth with its silky touch.

Heikki had never worn anything like this and had an idea: let's combine this with scandinavian aesthetics – Alpa was born.

Fastforward a decade, Alpa has transformed alpaca wool into timeless, Finnish design that is fit for any occasion from the woods to your fancy garden party.

Everything we do is based on sustainable mindset: our garments are knit to last years and we're happy to send your repair yarn, offer repair services and even buy back your old Alpa knitwear as 2nd hand.

All our knit garments are manufactured in Lithuania with modern Stoll-knitting machines. We knit our garments fully fashioned whenever it is possible – fully fashioned garments are more durable and produce less waste.

Our yarns come from Peru, the homeland of alpacas, and the yarn suppliers are carefully chosen and personally visited by our team.
